Boeing 737 Relocation

Today for lab, we had to move the 737 forward to clear out some space for the Aviation Technologies building expansion construction that is due to start tomorrow! However, most likely I wont be able to use the new building since by the time of it's completion I will most likely have already graduated... ==' Well... today was really not the best day to move the aircraft to be honest... it was so cold outside... the temperature outside today was about -13 degrees C... Originally the plan was to get the tow truck out and do all the procedures, move the plane to it's new position and return all the equipments. Everyone was expecting a fast job. However, things always has a twist in them and today was no exception. The wheels of the aircraft were completely frozen to the ground and the aircraft wont move at all... Our solution was just to pour hot water over the wheels and try to melt as much of the ice as possible... but with the low temperatures we were only able to melt a little bit of the ice because some of the hot water actually froze too... sigh.. eventually we got the aircraft to move and towed it to its new position. Job Complete!! :D

This was how badly the wheels were frozen to the ground...

Some pictures of the aircraft as it was being towed.

F-109 Complete! :D

Finally... after about 5-6 weeks of working on this engine, it is finally complete!! All the accessories, fuel and oil lines are back on the engine and all I did today was finish up with the safety wiring and complete some paperwork. Its such a good feeling seeing this big puzzle come back together into one piece again! Next week I will stage this engine onto the test bay and fire it up! I just hope that it wont be really cold next week... it would be really tough if we have to stage the engine when it is snowing and freezing cold outside...

Friday Nights! Part II

Yesterday was a snowy day again. However, counting that this is probably the only time where me, Alex and Shriram are all free before we get into spring break, we decided to get together and chill. After a while, for some reason we decided to find out how much weight each of us can carry on our backs... haha. Here are the pictures of what we did!

Hmm... Looks like Alex was really enjoying it!

Snow, snow, and more snow... it took me and Alex awhile to "dig" my car out of the snow....

Friday Nights!

This is a little late but last Friday we decided to go to Indianapolis and just chill and get some coffee while we were there. I havent been to Indy for a long time... so it was nice to go there once in awhile! hahaha.. here are some pitcures of that night:

Woah... What A Week....

Its been awhile since I last posted up here... haha... This week was a busy one for me... Together with exams I had a lot of other things going on at the same time... there was the good news that I am going to be working this summer!! My professor offered me a job to help him with his research projects. This is a really good opportunity for me, but it also means that I wont be able to go back home for at least a year and a half... T0T... Well... Since this is a really rare chance I guess that is just a price I have to pay! However, I am really thankful that my professor gave me this chance though, so I will work hard!!! :D

Some pictures I took this morning before class because it looked like a good day:

Well... a few hours later... I guess I was wrong about it being a good day...

It was snowing like crazy all of a sudden... well... This is Indiana weather... I guess I should be used to this by now... sigh...

Half Way Done With the F-109 Engine!

I have been working on the disassembly of the F-109 Turbo Fan Engine for 3 weeks now. After completely diassembling it, I started building it back up. This week was mostly spent on the core of the engine and all the accessories, oil lines, and fuel lines will be going back onto the engine starting next week! Once the engine is complete I will get to run it in the test cell and see what it can do!

Some random pictures I took today! :D

Piper PA-40 Complete!

After finishing all the inspections on the Piper PA-40 last Friday the group only had 1 more task to do before we can complete our work on the aircraft... Wash it... This morning when I woke up I checked the temperature and it was -11 degrees C... haha... luckily we were able to wash the plane inside the heated hanger! Without freezing our butts off, the process was actually really fun! Now the aircraft is finally complete and we are ready to move on to the Boeing 737!

WTF is up with the weather!!!

I knew that I shouldn't expect too much consistency from Indiana's weather, but this is just freaking ridiculous!!! This winter is probably the worst I've ever experienced in terms of temperatures rising and dropping like rocks... ugh... not to mention there's no Asian market here within a minimum of 50 miles either. Life can get depressing over here, and I thought Purdue was bad... oh well. At least I have badass friends over there that made it cool (any brownie points, anyone?).

On a brighter side, I met a lot of foreign students at badminton. I'm thinking of setting up a meet sometime just for the hell of it. Valpo will get owned for sure if it ends up going through, but at least for them, it's just for fun and experience. Some really nice people, and got a bunch of numbers, but they're all extremely busy... unlike myself -_- Which I don't really understand at this point, and if it's because business administration is really a lot easier than engineering, or if it's because I'm on a lower amount of credits than the norm, or if it's a combination of both. Guess I'll find out by the end of summer.

New style for Alex!?

Yesterday night was one of those rare times where the four of us finally get to gather together and have a proper meal together (Thanut usually is "busy"). We went to a pasta place called Puccini's near Shriram's place. When we finished dinner and was getting ready to go home, it was raining really hard.... Alex had his nice jacket on so he needed something to cover it from the rain. Luckily, Shriram's jacket has two layers in it so he decided to lend the outer layer to Alex. Once Alex puts on Shriram's jacket we all started laughing really hard because Alex looks so cute in Shriram's jacket! He looks like a 12 year old kid!
Ya Ying Jie Jie I think you will like these pictures! Enjoy~ ;)
